  • The law requires that owners of all the cars registered with the Department of Land Transport comply with the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act. Owners or car users are required to have evidence of having insurance against damage caused to other parties because of their cars ready to be presented to a competent officer at any time the car is in use, except in the case that the car has already been registered or that the annual tax has already been paid

  • Upon processing your request for registration of your car or payment of the annual car tax, the Department of Land Transport will check whether an insurance policy under such act has been acquired before accepting your car for registration or accepting the annual tax payment.

  • Car insurance under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act provides coverage for everyone affected by a car accident, regardless of whether the person is a driver, a passenger, or a pedestrian, in the case that involves a loss of life or body parts, or health damage. In the case of death, the deceased person’s heir will also be covered.
